Keep A Child Alive

I recently joined  "Keep a Child Alive" in the Penn State chapter and I am in utter love with the organization. Essentially what we do is raise money for children in Africa and India who are suffering from Aids. The amount of people suffering from Aids in both of these countries are mind-boggling. Aids is the disease that we know is out there but for some reason many people believe that their not at risk and continue to have unprotected sex. WRAP IT UP. I remember being in health class in high school and the teacher brought the issue of Hiv/Aids very close to home when she showed a map of all the people affected with the disease in Brooklyn and then she showed numerical figures of how many people were affected with this disease in each of our neighborhoods including Crown Heights which is where I live. Those facts are frightening to say the least but we have to hear them because this disease is real. The amount of people dying from Aids and HIV in the United States is nothing compared to the massive amount of people dying from this disease in Africa and india...I could sit here in my college apartment and be so content with my life and not worry about my brothers and sisters around the world, but that would be selfish. I want to help others no matter how near or far they are which is why I believe Keep a Child Alive is that life changing organization that I feel will impact my life for the better. Its also pretty cool that Alicia Keys is the Co-Founder and Global Ambassador of the organization along with Leigh Blake who is the president and founder.
